Your gift provides assistance to our special education students.

Special educators are more than just effective teachers to the students they support on a daily basis; they are advocates for the profession and leaders in their communities.

The Department of Special Education is helping prepare special education teacher candidates for these leadership and advocacy roles by supporting their participation in professional development and advocacy conferences around the nation.

Help us reach our goal!

These funds will be used to help future special educators learn about national trends in the field, network with other educators from around the country, lend student voices to presentations made by faculty and staff at these events, and advocate for the profession.  Participating in such events serves as a transformational learning experience for students to grow both professionally and personally.

Past special education students have participated in conferences like the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the Teacher Education Division (TED), the Special Education Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., and the Redbird Educator Capital Advocacy Day in Springfield.

Thank you for your support in ensuring the impact of our special educators goes beyond the walls of their classrooms!
