The ISU Sustainability Fund
The Office of Sustainability seeks your financial support to
strengthen its Bike ISU initiative and campus bike share program.
Generous gifts from last year enabled us to launch our campus bike share program where over 10 bikes are now loaned out to students.
These initiatives enhance mobility around campus and
increase the access to biking as a form of sustainable transportation,
exercise, recreation, and sport. Getting more people on bikes has
environmental, economic, and health benefits for both students and our campus
as a whole. For example, with fewer short-distance car trips made by students,
carbon emissions will be lower and congestion relieved.
By giving during Birds Give Back, you allow our office
to expand our fleet of bikes and support our Bike ISU outreach
and education efforts. It will cost between $50 and $200 to
tune-up and/or repair each bike we acquire taking into consideration any replacement parts or necessary tools.
A gift in any amount will help us in our effort to provide a healthy and
sustainable transportation option for our campus community.
Gifts at the following levels will provide this specific support:
$25: Redbirds Learn: Funds will support educational content and events for safe biking around campus.
$50: Redbirds Reuse: Provides some TLC for a bike that needs a basic tune-up before it's ready to roll.
$100: Redbirds Repair: Funds all the necessary repairs for a bike to live a second life, plus a helmet to keep Redbirds safe while riding.
$150: Redbirds Ride: Reserved for the bikes in the most need
of care, we'll make all the adjustments, replace necessary parts, and give it a
complete bike wash.
$200: Reggie's Total Package: Includes necessary repairs, plus a bike helmet, lock, and a contribution to our Garage 529 registration service to keep bikes safe and protected from theft.
If you’re unable to give a monetary donation, consider donating your gently used, well-loved Illinois State University Redbird gear to the Share Shop located within the Office of Sustainability.
