The Department of English at Illinois State University is dedicated to providing an environment that facilitates the individual and communal work—creative, intellectual, pedagogical, administrative, and outreach—of our faculty, staff, and students. Our long-term goal is to position ourselves as the premiere English Studies program so that we can serve as an exemplar of the English Studies model to faculty and students nationwide. Private support raised on Birds Give Back enables undergraduate and graduate scholarships, professional development opportunities for faculty and students alike, and the flourishing of a truly vibrant academic community at ISU.
The English Department General Fund: The English Fund is used to support alumni events, student activities, and professional development events and opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.
The Julia N. Visor Scholarship Fund: The Julia N. Visor Scholarship Fund is a monetary prize given each year for the best undergraduate essay on issues of race relations, colonialism and cultural diversity in any sub-field of English studies.
