The Wonsook Kim School of Art provides a professional and academic education for students desiring careers in the visual arts. Artists in the program are researchers, teachers, historians, designers, and studio artists. Art scholarships provide artists in the program the opportunity to create their futures.
Marshall Dulaney Pitcher Award and Scholarship
The Marshall Dulaney Pitcher Award has recognized artistic excellence and offered inspiration for Wonsook Kim School of Art students since 1970. This highly prestigious award was established by the Pitcher family in memory of Marshall Pitcher. Pitcher was a talented painting student, who was passionately interested in and influenced by the art, music, and poetry culture of his time. Before transferring to Illinois State University in 1969 as a sophomore, he studied at Antioch College. The MDP Award, as it has come to be known, honors outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in the visual arts who demonstrate exceptional artistic talent, dedicated studio practice, and academic excellence. In addition to a monetary award, this distinguished recognition includes an individual exhibition prominently displayed within the Student Annual.
“It is the beauty of Marshall Pitcher’s work which will survive. The extension of that beauty is the goal to which we should all aspire.”
Wonsook Kim School of Art General Fund
Redbird hope is powerful. It manifests in a million ways and moves us to do hard things we weren't sure we could do. Redbird hope is contagious. It spreads inspiration and creates a strong network of support. This year, as in past years, our donors' support has assisted many of our students to face unique challenges, creatively persist, overcome, and thrive. A diversity of hopes and dreams unites our School of Art community and energizes us as we look to gather back in our classrooms and studios to make, discover, research, collaborate, and grow together.
When you donate to the Wonsook Kim School of Art General Fund, your gift is added to existing endowed scholarship funds, enabling us to award 16 different student scholarships each year.
We hope you will collaborate with us today to reinforce essential support networks for our students during this Birds Give Back opportunity. Create your legacy by helping our students to create theirs!
