This year during Birds Give Back the School of Information Technology is seeking funding for high-impact practices. We know student research is a high-impact practice that helps students persist in the major and be successful after graduation. Gifts to the School of IT General Fund will help achieve our two priorities.
For School of IT students, student research efforts typically require access to specialized technology (based on the student’s interests this could be an IoT device, or a Raspberry Pi, or a specialized data set). If we can raise $2000, we can support approximately 20 student projects (i.e., for every $100 raised, one student research project is funded).
Another high-impact practice is bridge programs. These provide access to training/learning opportunities before arriving on campus. If we can raise $3000 we can host a summer workshop (with 30 high schoolers) focused on building IT skills that will help these students be successful when they arrive on campus.
Thank you for supporting us in these endeavors!
